Job Title: Youth Justice Social Worker
Location: Gloucester
Team: Gloucestershire Youth Justice Service
Contract Length: Contract until 21st November 2025 with possible extension
Rate of Pay: £27.44 PAYE / £35.00 LTD (Paid via an umbrella company)

About the Role:
We are seeking a suitably experienced and qualified Youth Justice Social Worker  within our multi-agency Gloucestershire Youth Justice Service (YJS). The successful candidate will hold a caseload of young people, providing essential support to help reduce offending and risk of exploitation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage a caseload of young people open to the service
  
  
• Complete assessments using the Youth Justice Board (YJB) Prevention and Diversion Assessment tool.
  
  
• Identify unmet needs and develop child-led plans focused on supporting young people to move away from offending and reduce exploitation risks.
  
  
• Provide occasional court duty officer cover for the service.
  
  
• Undertake office duties as required.
  
  
• Apply both a Child First approach and Trauma Informed Practice in all work with young people.
  
  

Person Specification:

• Qualified and experienced Youth Justice Social Worker or Probation Officer.
  
  
• Proven ability to work effectively with young people involved in the youth justice system.
  
  
• Experience with prevention and diversion strategies in youth justice.
  
  
• Strong assessment and case management skills.
  
  
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-agency team.
  
  
• Commitment to Child First and Trauma Informed approaches.
  
  
• Ability to work independently and "hit the ground running" in a fast-paced environment.
