Young Person’s Coach – Complex Lives Project
Location: County Hall, Chichester (with travel across West Sussex)
Rate: £27.00 per hour (LTD)
Contract: 22 Sept 2025 – 27 Feb 2026 (37 hours per week)
IR35: Inside IR35
DBS: Enhanced DBS required
Working Pattern: One day per fortnight in office + flexible community-based work (some evenings/weekends)
The Role West Sussex County Council is seeking a dedicated Young Person’s Coach to provide intensive, one-to-one support to young people facing complex challenges. You’ll build trusted relationships, coordinate support with partner agencies, and ensure that young people’s voices shape their outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
- Support 3–5 young people at a time with flexible, personalised coaching.
- Build strong, trusted relationships in the community and key settings.
- Support and coordinate use of the CANS assessment tool.
- Complete risk assessments and ensure robust safeguarding practice.
- Work flexibly, including some evenings/weekends.
- Contribute to innovative approaches to supporting young people.
About You We’re looking for someone with:
- Significant experience supporting young people in complex circumstances (youth work, youth justice, health, education, social care, or equivalent).
- Strong engagement and relationship-building skills.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection frameworks.
- Experience of completing and managing risk assessments.
- Flexibility to work evenings/weekends when needed.
