About the Role
The Early Intervention and Prevention Team at Doncaster Council is seeking a temporary Young Carer Practitioner. This is a rewarding opportunity to support young carers and their families, helping to build resilience, confidence, and independence. The role involves direct work with children and families, both one-to-one and in group settings, and includes raising awareness of the service across various organisations.

Key Responsibilities
- Undertake skilled assessments of young carers and their families to identify needs.
- Develop and implement support plans in collaboration with key agencies.
- Deliver holistic casework and facilitate weekly social groups.
- Reduce inappropriate caring responsibilities by ensuring adult needs are met.
- Provide awareness training across children and adult services.
- Lead the development and delivery of the Young Carers Council.
- Promote the service to external organisations and stakeholders.
Essential:
- Experience working with children, young people, and families.
- Strong communication skills across professional and personal settings.
- Experience working to tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database systems.
- Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Experience in targeted interventions (individual and group).
- Understanding of data protection and GDPR.
- Familiarity with role-specific processes and standards.
- Knowledge of role-specific activities and operations.
- Ability to assess, plan, and review work effectively.
- Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to Doncaster Council’s values and behaviours.
- Adaptability and self-motivation.
- Problem-solving and teamwork skills.
- Good standard of education (Level 3 or equivalent experience).
- Willingness to undertake further training and development.
- Ability to work in a hybrid environment.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare.
- Willingness to undergo DBS checks and meet disability confident criteria.
