Pay Rate: £21.01 Per Hour PAYE (Inc Holiday) | £26.81 per hour Ltd Umbrella

Service Care Solutions are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Swindon to recruit for a Waste Depot Manager – Facilities & Environment on a 12-month contract, with a strong likelihood of extension at the client’s discretion.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced operational manager to lead the day-to-day activities of the waste depot, ensuring efficient, safe, and compliant service delivery across waste management and recycling operations.

Role Summary The Waste Depot Manager will oversee all depot operations, ensuring that resources, staff, and processes are effectively managed. You will lead a team to deliver high standards of safety, compliance, and performance, while driving service improvements and maintaining a strong focus on sustainability and customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage daily waste depot operations, ensuring effective planning and performance.
  • Oversee the safe receipt, handling, storage, and transfer of waste materials in compliance with legislation.
  • Ensure robust adherence to health & safety policies, fostering a positive safety culture.
  • Manage staff training, rostering, and performance to maintain high productivity and service levels.
  • Collaborate with the wider Waste Services team to deliver efficient waste and recycling services.
  • Manage budgets, resources, and depot assets effectively.
  • Monitor performance, analyse data, and implement service improvements.
  • Build strong relationships with contractors, regulators, and other stakeholders.
Essential Requirements
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Proven experience managing a waste depot, recycling centre, or similar operational facility.
  • Strong understanding of waste management legislation, environmental compliance, and health & safety.
  • Demonstrable leadership and team management experience.
  • Budget management and resource planning skills.
  • Ability to resolve operational challenges and act decisively under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent in Waste Management, Environmental Management, or Facilities Management.
  • IOSH/NEBOSH Health & Safety qualification (or willingness to achieve).
  • Professional certification in Waste Management.
