Street Scene Operative
Location: Swindon
Contract: 12 Months (Highly Likely to be Extended)
Pay Rate: £13.00 Per hour PAYE (inc Holiday) | £17.10 per hour LTD Umbrella
Service Care Solutions are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Swindon to recruit for an Street Scene Operative on a 12-month contract, with a strong likelihood of extension at the client’s discretion.
We are looking for a dedicated and proactive individual to join the Environmental Services team, responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety across public spaces within Swindon.
Role Summary
The Environmental Cleansing Officer will ensure that streets, parks, and public spaces are kept clean, safe, and welcoming. This role involves litter collection, street cleansing, and supporting environmental improvement initiatives, contributing to the council’s commitment to community wellbeing and environmental protection.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out cleansing operations across streets, parks, and other public areas.
- Empty litter bins, remove debris, and undertake deep-cleaning duties where required.
- Operate cleansing vehicles, tools, and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Respond promptly to reports of environmental issues such as littering, spillages, or graffiti.
- Ensure all work complies with health & safety standards and environmental policies.
- Provide excellent customer service when engaging with the public.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Previous experience in street cleansing, grounds maintenance, or environmental services.
- Ability to operate vehicles, machinery, and cleansing equipment safely.
- Good understanding of health & safety practices in outdoor and public environments.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Applicants should be available to start immediately or at short notice.
- You must have the right to work in the UK.
- Some roles may require an enhanced DBS check. If so, this must be completed through us or be supported by a subscription to the DBS update service.
