Description

Dudley Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Safeguarding Team Manager to lead one of their dedicated safeguarding teams. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping services that protect children, support families, and ensure the highest standards of practice across statutory social work.
The successful candidate will join a supportive and forward-thinking local authority that is committed to improving outcomes for children and young people while also investing in the development of its staff and managers.

Responsibilities
As a Safeguarding Team Manager, you will:
  • Lead, support and supervise a team of social workers and practitioners delivering statutory safeguarding services.
  • Oversee complex casework, ensuring high-quality assessments, care planning and interventions that prioritise the safety and wellbeing of children.
  • Provide clear leadership to ensure statutory requirements, policies and procedures are followed effectively.
  • Manage performance within the team, using data and quality assurance processes to drive continuous improvement.
  • Support and develop staff through regular supervision, coaching and reflective practice.
  • Represent the service in multi-agency forums and work closely with partner agencies to deliver effective safeguarding responses.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and service development within children’s services.
Requirements
We are looking for a skilled and confident leader who can demonstrate:
  • Registration with Social Work England and a recognised social work qualification.
  • Significant post-qualifying experience in children’s safeguarding and statutory social work.
  • Proven ability to manage, supervise and develop a team of social workers.
  • Strong knowledge of child protection, care proceedings, and statutory frameworks.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills.
  • A commitment to driving high standards of practice and achieving positive outcomes for children and families.
