Rehabilitation Officer – Visual Impairment
Location: Oldham Council – Adult Social Care

We are looking for a Rehabilitation Officer – Visual Impairment to join Oldham Council’s Adult Social Care team. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of people experiencing sight loss across the borough.

About the Role As a Rehabilitation Officer, you will:

  • Carry out specialist assessments of individuals and their carers to identify needs related to sensory loss.

  • Develop and implement support plans that promote independence, wellbeing, and confidence.

  • Provide advice, information, and signposting to other organisations.

  • Act as a specialist consultant and advocate on issues relating to visual impairment.

  • Maintain the statutory register for sight impaired and severely sight impaired residents.

  • Work in partnership with colleagues across social care, health, housing, and voluntary services.

  • Deliver sensory awareness training to staff and providers.

About You We are looking for someone who has:

  • A Diploma in Rehabilitation Studies (or equivalent) and registration with RWPN.

  • Experience working with adults and children with visual sensory loss, their families and carers.

  • The ability to carry out sensitive and accurate assessments.

  • Skills in developing rehabilitation interventions to support independence and wellbeing.

  • Strong communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills.

  • IT literacy, with experience using case management systems.

  • A full UK driving licence and access to a car (essential car user).
