- Experience supporting within a General Practice Settings

Duties:
As a Practice Nurse working within a General Practice or Primary Care setting, your role is essential to delivering high-quality, patient-centred nursing care. Key responsibilities typically include:
- Chronic disease management – monitoring and supporting patients with long-term conditions such as diabetes, asthma, COPD, and hypertension
- Immunisations and vaccinations – including childhood immunisations, travel vaccines, and flu clinics
- Cervical screening (smear tests) – performing routine cytology in line with national guidelines
- Wound care and dressings – assessment and treatment of minor injuries, post-operative wounds, and leg ulcers
- Health screening and NHS health checks – conducting routine health assessments and lifestyle advice
- Assisting with minor surgery and other clinical procedures – preparing equipment, supporting GPs, and providing aftercare
- Management of treatment room supplies and infection control – maintaining clinical equipment and following health and safety protocols
- Patient education and health promotion – offering advice on diet, smoking cessation, weight management, and general wellbeing
- Maintaining accurate clinical records – using systems such as EMIS or SystmOne
