About the Role We are seeking an enthusiastic, energetic, and passionate Personal Advisor to join Thurrock Council’s Aftercare Team, providing excellent support and guidance to care leavers.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a Children’s Services department rated Outstanding by Ofsted across all areas. As a Personal Advisor, you will play a key role in helping young people achieve the best possible outcomes as they transition into independence.

What You’ll Do
- Provide direct support and guidance to care leavers, helping them build independent lives.
- Formulate, review, and oversee Pathway Plans to ensure effective support.
- Act as a corporate parent, advocating for young people and ensuring their voices are heard.
- Work within the Signs of Safety model, adopting a Think Family and contextual safeguarding approach.
- Collaborate with a supportive and ambitious team dedicated to outstanding practice.
- Flexible working arrangements to support work/life balance.
- Reflective supervision and regular performance reviews.
- Excellent training opportunities and access to a structured CPD programme.
- A collaborative, friendly, and supportive work environment.
- Experience working directly with young people, ideally in a leaving care or related setting.
- An understanding of the challenges facing care leavers as they move toward independence.
- Knowledge of corporate parenting responsibilities and commitment to achieving positive outcomes.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- A valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
- Willingness to undergo a DBS Enhanced Check with Children’s Barred List.
