Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Carry out a wide variety of carpentry, plumbing, and other trade tasks to a multi-skilled level in accordance with NVQ L2/3 in Maintenance Operations or equivalent.
- Perform internal and external works across Abri properties and communal areas.
- Deliver all work to a professional standard, compliant with building regulations and industry best practices.
- Communicate effectively with customers and colleagues, providing updates on job progress and referring complex cases to management.
- Provide a high-quality, customer-focused service and act as an ambassador for Abri, consistently demonstrating Abri’s values.
- Comply with all health and safety legislation and company procedures, including risk assessments, use of PPE, and method statements.
- Aim to complete all jobs on time and right first time.
- Apply and use a Schedule of Rates for job costing and ensure variations are recorded correctly.
- Participate in the out-of-hours emergency call-out rota.
- Maintain accurate records and complete all job-related paperwork in line with Abri policies.
- Use smartphone/tablet devices to record job progress, timesheets, and materials used.
- Procure materials from approved suppliers as required for jobs.
- Manage and maintain van stock to support efficient job completion.
- Keep the works vehicle clean, roadworthy, and report any defects promptly.
- Assist other trades where necessary to ensure comprehensive service delivery.
- Undertake additional training to develop new skills as needed.
- Maintain and securely store all Abri-issued tools, equipment, and devices (e.g., power tools, mobile phones, tablets).
- Perform other reasonable duties within the grading and responsibilities of the role.
- Proven ability to perform a broad range of carpentry, plumbing, and general trade tasks to a multi-skilled standard.
- Practical experience working across various property types.
- Minimum NVQ Level 2 or equivalent time-served experience in carpentry, plumbing, or masonry, with demonstrable skills in additional trades.
- Experience working to deadlines as part of a wider trade or maintenance team.
- Full UK Driving Licence (clean).
- Physically fit and capable of performing demanding manual work.
- Strong commitment to customer service and the values of Abri.
