Locum Childcare Solicitor

Service care solutions are currently working with a well-established local authority based in South Yorkshire who are seeking an experienced Locum Childcare Solicitors to support their busy legal team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor with public law childcare experience to step into a rewarding locum position, offering flexible working arrangements, including remote or hybrid options.

This role pays a competitive rate of:

PAYE (Inc.Hol) - £44.48 £48.87 per hour  
Umbrella - £50-£55 per hour

Key Responsibilities as a locum childcare solicitor:

• Handling a caseload of public law childcare matters
• Representing clients in care proceedings, PLO meetings, and court hearings
• Drafting legal documents, including threshold documents, care plans, and court applications
• Advising social services and attending legal planning meetings
• Managing cases independently from start to finish

Requirements

• Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) with current practising certificate
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in childcare law (ideally within a local authority or legal aid setting)
• Strong knowledge of the Children Act 1989 and related legislation
• Confident advocate, ideally with experience of appearing before the Family Court
• Ability to manage a busy and sensitive caseload with minimal supervision
