Contract: Temporary – 3 months

Rate: £25 per hour (Umbrella) (£19 PAYE an hour)
Mileage: £0.45 per mile
About the Role Dorset Council is seeking a Keeping in Touch (KIT) Practitioner to join their Children’s Services team. The primary focus of this role is to supervise Keeping in Touch sessions between children and families who are subject to proceedings, ensuring safe, positive, and meaningful interactions.
You will play a key role in recording and monitoring KIT sessions, working directly with children, young people, and their families, and liaising with colleagues and professionals across children’s services.
This is a rewarding role that requires strong relationship-building skills, the ability to handle sensitive situations, and a genuine commitment to supporting children and families across Dorset.

Key Responsibilities
- Supervise Keeping in Touch sessions in homes, contact centres, and community settings.
- Maintain timely and accurate records of sessions on Mosaic (social care recording system).
- Establish professional working relationships with families, colleagues, and community partners.
- Manage challenging and complex situations with professionalism and care.
- Travel across Dorset to support families (mileage reimbursed at £0.45 per mile).
- Experienced or has a genuine interest in working with children, young people, and families.
- A strong communicator, with excellent written and spoken English.
- Patient, dependable, and adaptable, with the ability to think creatively in changing situations.
- Skilled in building positive professional relationships and earning trust.
- Experienced in child care, family support, or people-focused environments (desirable).
- £25.62 per hour (umbrella) (£19 PAYE an hour)
- Part-time role – 18.5 hours per week.
- 3-month initial contract with potential to extend.
- Mileage reimbursement (£0.45 per mile).
