Health and Safety Officer

A client within the Public Sector based in Tyne and Wear is currently recruiting for a Health & Safety Officer (Technical) to join their team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a health and safety environment.

The Role
Key purpose of the role is to support the Health and Safety Team in maintaining a safe working environment across the Borough by carrying out inspections and recording findings using digital systems.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Carrying out site inspections across council premises and facilities.
• Recording inspection outcomes using the SafetyCulture app.
• Assisting the Health and Safety Team with compliance monitoring and reporting.
• Supporting colleagues in promoting safe working practices and ensuring standards are met.

The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
• A recognised health and safety qualification such as NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent.
• Experience of undertaking workplace/site inspections within a public sector or similar environment.

The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Strong IT literacy, including use of mobile inspection apps or databases.
• Good communication and reporting skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £20 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £15–£16 per hour PAYE).
