Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council is looking for Family Workers to join our dedicated Children & Families team.
The Role
As a Family Worker, you’ll provide both practical and emotional support to children and their families, helping to improve outcomes and build stronger, safer family environments. You’ll be working closely with social care colleagues, schools, and other professionals to ensure that every child’s voice is heard and their needs are at the heart of everything we do.
What You’ll Do
âś” Support children, young people, and families through direct work and interventions
âś” Contribute to key meetings such as Child Protection Conferences and Care Reviews
âś” Capture and represent the voice of the child in planning and decision-making
âś” Keep accurate records using our case management system (Liquid Logic)
âś” Work flexibly to meet the needs of families, including some evenings/weekends when required
What We’re Looking For
âś… Experience of working with children, young people, and families
âś… Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with children and adults alike
âś… Knowledge of child development and safeguarding practices
âś… A childcare qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3) or equivalent experience
âś… A full driving licence and access to a car
The Details
📍 Based at Dunedin House, Stockton-on-Tees (with travel across the borough)
đź•’ 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday (some flexibility required)
đź“… Contract:Â Initial 3 months with possibility of extensionÂ
