We’re looking for Family Support Workers to join our team and make a real difference to adolescents who may be leaving care, seeking asylum, or facing challenges such as homelessness, substance misuse, or mental health difficulties.
Key Responsibilities
- Pathway Planning: Create, review, and monitor Pathway Plans with young people, social workers, and partner agencies to achieve goals around health, education, housing, and employment.
- Agency Coordination: Work closely with housing officers, benefit agencies, carers, and other professionals to ensure a joined-up support network.
- Housing & Financial Support: Help young people secure accommodation and access benefits, assessing needs and entitlements.
- Skills Development: Support young people to gain independence – from budgeting and household tasks to accessing community resources.
- Advocacy: Champion the rights and voices of young people, helping them make informed choices and challenge unfair decisions.
- Monitoring & Reporting: Keep clear records and provide regular updates on progress, ensuring timely reviews of plans.
- Transition Support: Offer consistent guidance as young people move towards adulthood, often starting just before their 18th birthday.
- Experience working with vulnerable adolescents, asylum-seeking children, young people with mental health needs, substance misuse issues, homelessness, or developing independent living skills.
- No formal qualifications required – your experience, empathy, and ability to engage young people are what count.
- Availability to start within 2 weeks is ideal (especially if most compliance is already in place).
