Rate: £28 per hour (umbrella) (£21 PAYE an hour)

Southwark Council is seeking a dedicated Employment Support Officer to join our team on a temporary basis, with the possibility of extension. This is an exciting opportunity to directly support young people as part of the Youth Guarantee Trailblazer ‘Full Potential’ programme, helping Southwark’s care leavers to achieve their ambitions in employment and training.

Main Purpose of the Role
- Manage your own caseload of young people aged 16–25, providing tailored employment support.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues, partners, and external organisations to ensure coordinated support.
- Deliver high-quality, in-house employment support to care-experienced young people.
- Provide practical advice and guidance to help young people access and sustain employment, training, or education opportunities.
- Experience working with care-experienced young people, or vulnerable young people such as young parents and those with English as a second language.
- A track record of supporting individuals into employment, education, or training.
- Strong caseload management skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate young people.
- A solution-focused approach and the resilience to manage challenging situations.
