Swindon Borough Council is seeking experienced Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP) Coordinators to join our SEND service on a 5-month interim basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute directly to improving outcomes for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), while also supporting a key service transformation project.

The Roles We are recruiting for five EHCP Coordinators:

  • 3 Coordinators will lead on new statutory assessments, working closely with parents, schools, and multi-agency partners to draft and finalise high-quality EHCPs within statutory timelines.

  • 2 Coordinators will work on a project basis, supporting the transition to a new case management system and picking up amendments to existing EHCPs to ensure compliance, accuracy, and continuity of support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of new statutory EHC needs assessments or amendments to existing plans.

  • Draft clear, outcome-focused EHCPs in line with the SEND Code of Practice (2015) and statutory requirements.

  • Collaborate with families, schools, and health and social care professionals to co-produce plans that reflect the needs and aspirations of children and young people.

  • Contribute to the improvement of processes and quality assurance during the implementation of the new case management system.

  • Ensure statutory deadlines are consistently met, delivering a high-quality and child-centred service.

What We’re Looking For
  • Proven experience in EHCP coordination, statutory assessments, and drafting/amending plans.

  • Strong understanding of SEND legislation, including the Children & Families Act 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice.

  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong communication and partnership skills with families and professionals.

  • Previous local authority SEND experience is essential.

Contract Details
