Birmingham Children’s Trust is looking for an experienced and passionate Domestic Abuse Specialist Practitioner to join our dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to children, young people and families across the city.

The Role As a Domestic Abuse Specialist Practitioner, you will lead on the delivery of specialist domestic abuse services within your district, working closely with colleagues and partners to improve outcomes for children and families affected by domestic abuse.

Key elements of the role include:

  • Holding a small caseload of families with complex needs.

  • Planning and delivering rolling group work programmes on domestic abuse.

  • Developing and delivering specialist training for colleagues and partners.

  • Deputising at high-risk multi-agency meetings.

  • Assessing and managing risk, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.

  • Supporting and mentoring unqualified or newly qualified staff.

You’ll work collaboratively across agencies, using evidence-based practice to safeguard children and support their families.

About You We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has a Level 3 qualification in domestic abuse or children’s social care (or equivalent).

  • Is IDVA-trained (or holds equivalent domestic and/or sexual abuse training) and willing to work towards a Level 4 specialist qualification within 12 months of starting.

  • Has significant experience working with vulnerable children, young people, and families – particularly those affected by domestic abuse, harmful practices or sexual abuse.

  • Is confident in risk assessment, safety planning, and developing/delivering group work and training.

  • Can build strong partnerships and communicate effectively with a range of audiences.

  • Demonstrates resilience, professionalism and a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.

An enhanced DBS (Children) is required for this post.
