An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Manager to join a settled residential children’s home in Leyland. You’ll play a vital role in supporting the Registered Manager to deliver high-quality care in a safe, nurturing, and homely environment for young people aged 11–18.
? What you’ll be doing:
- Supporting the day-to-day management of the home, including staff supervision, rota planning, training, and performance management.
- Helping to maintain a Good or Outstanding Ofsted rating by ensuring high standards of care and compliance.
- Building strong, trusting relationships with young people, supporting them to develop life skills and achieve positive outcomes.
- Contributing to care planning, safeguarding, and effective partnership working with external agencies and families.
- Deputising for the Registered Manager and taking part in the on-call rota.
- Experience working with children/young people in residential care (minimum 11–18 age range).
- Supervisory experience, with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Sound knowledge of safeguarding, child development, and relevant legislation (Children’s Homes Regulations, Working Together to Safeguard Children etc.).
- Minimum Level 3 qualification in Children’s Social Care or a related field.
- Strong communication, report writing and conflict management skills.
- A full UK driving licence (preferably with no endorsements).
- Commitment to working on a flexible rota including sleep-ins and lone working.
- Management or team-leading qualifications.
- Experience of achieving positive outcomes in challenging situations.
- Understanding of diversity and inclusive practice.
