Deputy Manager – Children’s Residential Home

Are you an experienced Residential Support Worker or Team Leader ready to step into a Deputy Manager role? Do you have a passion for improving the lives of children and young people in care? If so, we want to hear from you.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Manager to join a settled residential children’s home in Leyland. You’ll play a vital role in supporting the Registered Manager to deliver high-quality care in a safe, nurturing, and homely environment for young people aged 11–18.

? What you’ll be doing:

• Supporting the day-to-day management of the home, including staff supervision, rota planning, training, and performance management.
  
  
• Helping to maintain a Good or Outstanding Ofsted rating by ensuring high standards of care and compliance.
  
  
• Building strong, trusting relationships with young people, supporting them to develop life skills and achieve positive outcomes.
  
  
• Contributing to care planning, safeguarding, and effective partnership working with external agencies and families.
  
  
• Deputising for the Registered Manager and taking part in the on-call rota.
  
  

? What we’re looking for:

• Experience working with children/young people in residential care (minimum 11–18 age range).
  
  
• Supervisory experience, with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
  
  
• Sound knowledge of safeguarding, child development, and relevant legislation (Children’s Homes Regulations, Working Together to Safeguard Children etc.).
  
  
• Minimum Level 3 qualification in Children’s Social Care or a related field.
  
  
• Strong communication, report writing and conflict management skills.
  
  
• A full UK driving licence (preferably with no endorsements).
  
  
• Commitment to working on a flexible rota including sleep-ins and lone working.
  
  

? Desirable:

• Management or team-leading qualifications.
  
  
• Experience of achieving positive outcomes in challenging situations.
  
  
• Understanding of diversity and inclusive practice.
