About the Role
We are seeking up to three Residential Support Workers to join our short breaks overnight service for children with additional needs, complex health conditions, and learning difficulties/disabilities. This role is based in the home and involves delivering high-quality care to meet the individual needs of the children, promoting their education, health, and wellbeing, and ensuring their safety and protection at all times.
You will work a shift pattern covering early, late, and waking nights, including weekends:
  • Early Shifts: 07:00 – 14:30
  • Late Shifts: 14:00 – 22:00
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide appropriate physical, personal, emotional, educational, and social care to children and young people.
  • Act as a link worker for designated children, ensuring their needs are met in line with care plans.
  • Administer medication in compliance with relevant procedures and standards.
  • Maintain accurate records using both electronic and paper-based systems.
  • Promote effective working relationships with colleagues, other agencies, and the local community.
  • Participate in planning meetings, case reviews, and prepare relevant reports.
  • Undertake and monitor risk assessments for individual young people.
  • Support the maintenance of a safe, high-quality physical environment.
  • Promote children and young people’s rights, including confidentiality and representation.
  • Work flexibly across other residential units when required to ensure service continuity.
Experience & Knowledge
  • Experience in a residential care environment.
  • Experience working with children and young people with complex disabilities and/or needs.
  • Experience working in a multi-agency setting.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, OFSTED requirements, and safeguarding practices.
  • Understanding of the developmental and emotional needs of children and young people.
  • Awareness of health and safety legislation and the Five Outcomes for children.
Skills & Competencies
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviour calmly and constructively.
  • Good IT skills and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Capacity to develop effective relationships with colleagues and professionals from other agencies.
  • Commitment to delivering services in a non-discriminatory and inclusive manner.
  • Flexibility to work a range of shifts, including weekends and nights.
