We are currently recruiting for a Public Health Administrator to join the Public Health Directorate. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the delivery of public health services that promote and protect health, prevent ill health, and improve wellbeing across the community.

The Role As a Public Health Administrator, you will provide high-quality administrative and customer service support to the Public Health team. You will be the first point of contact for enquiries via phone, email, and in person, ensuring excellent customer service at all times.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing administrative support to the Public Health team, including diary management, minute taking, and correspondence.

  • Supporting projects and events in community settings, including those aimed at the general public.

  • Extracting, collating, and presenting information and reports to set deadlines.

  • Maintaining accurate records such as personnel files, attendance, training, and expenses.

  • Managing office systems, supplies, and mail processes.

  • Assisting in the production of newsletters and communication materials.

  • Supporting colleagues during periods of absence and ensuring flexible teamwork.

About You The ideal candidate will be highly organised, methodical, and confident in working independently while also being a strong team player. You will have:

  • A good level of general education (GCSE/NVQ2 or equivalent, including English & Maths).

  • Demonstrable experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and the Internet.

  • Considerable experience in administration, including correspondence, filing, arranging meetings, record keeping, and using IT systems.

  • Strong customer service experience in a customer-facing role.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to prioritise workload and meet tight deadlines.

  • Awareness of the need for confidentiality and a professional approach to work.

It would be desirable if you also have:

  • An understanding of local authority procedures.

  • Basic knowledge of health & safety legislation.

  • Experience supervising volunteers.

  • A qualification such as ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence).

Additional Information This role may require travel between offices and other locations across the county, and flexibility to work outside of standard office hours (evenings, weekends, bank holidays) depending on service needs.
