Service Care Legal have been working closely alongside the South London Legal Partnership in order to supply temporary contract legal workers to a large combined local authority. The South London Legal Partnership comprises of 5 shares London Borough’s – Merton, Richmond, Kingston, Sutton and Wandsworth.

The issue

The demand for public sector legal advice has increased significantly, and with the backlog of court hearings and cases delayed since pre-Covid, local authorities are under significant pressure to deliver legal advice on behalf of the council. With the cases mounting and deadlines shortened, the legal staff within local authorities have been under strain and therefore have had a recruitment drive.

The solution

Our Legal division built a relationship with the council to identify the key areas and sectors in which the council was under most pressure. Our specialist Legal consultant focused on sourcing candidates within these areas to alleviate the pressures they faced and supplied locum workers on a rolling contract basis. The staff that we supplied ranged from qualified Solicitors and Lawyers to Paralegal’s and Legal Assistants. The key areas of law we supplied staff into include: Social Care, Litigation, Property, Housing and Contracts.
